Propane Safety
Because propane in its processed state is odorless and colorless a commercial odorant, typically ethyl mercaptan, is added. The odorant permits the detection of leaks into the environment before the gas concentration in the air reaches a flammable level. Have your propane delivery person allow you to smell propane vapor and remember its odor.
Propane gas is heavier than air and without proper ventilation will collect in low places like basements, stairwells and pits in the floor.
